The Healthy Environment for Healthy Children Project

The Healthy Environment for Healthy Children Project is a program that promotes a healthy living environment and tries to educate health professionals as well as residents, on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border.

The aims of the project are to alert the communty about the practical ways in which they can reduce or eliminate contact with toxic elements in the environment and help health professionals reduce the risk of human contact with pesticides.

Two principle components of the program are:

  • Sponsor workshops about pesticides for health professionals on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border.
  • Train both agricultural workers as well as residents of the border region how to promote public health. They can then educate members of their own communities, teaching them how to recognize and reduce contact with dangerous agents in the environment.
